I’m not sure there can be a more profound symbol of how Boris Johnson has failed our nurses than one of the people who saved his life leaving the service.

I asked how many jobs have been created in energy efficiency following its 10 Point Plan, which promised 50,000. The Secretary failed to answer my straightforward question. Does he not know? It appears this Govt is more concerned with slogans than meaningful action.

As restrictions are lifted, we can't afford to repeat the mistakes of last summer. All Covid cases and their contacts must be isolated to stop the spread, yet the Health Secretary still won't commit to proper financial & practical support to encourage people to self-isolate

Today I urged the Govt to release Kickstart Scheme data at a local level, after concerns were raised at a business roundtable. The Minister revealed only 19% of Kickstart places created so far in SE have been filled. Local data will help us get more young people into these jobs.

It does appear that Boris Johnson put the pursuit of a post-Brexit trade deal with India ahead of public health. The Covid public inquiry must look into this decision and whether it was influenced by politics and not the science.
