All that article says is 2/3rds are still going to the pub, the point of the question is it’s affecting livelihoods and causing crowds at 10pm when everyone is kicked out and there is no scientific evidence that it’ll stop the spread

Yes, we must see the evidence. I don't believe covid-secure venues stay that way when people get a drunk. In my town the night-life doesn't start until near 10pm at weekends. So they all stay at home (?) which would be good.

Yes they stay at home, have house parties (without table service, track and trace or cleaning regimes) and don’t social distance. Sounds like a Great idea!
