JUST IN: A private citizen named Rhia Ceralde files an opposition with the JBC to ask for the disqualification of chief justice applicants Justices De Castro, Peralta, Bersamin and Reyes.

Ceralde’s grounds are the justices’ votes in favor of the quo warranto ouster of Sereno. The opposition also invokes JBC rules which says a pending admin case vs an applicant should be grounds for disqualification. The admin cases are the impeach raps filed yerterday.

However, there is also a provision on the JBC rules which says judicial decisions cannot be a basis for disqualification. Justice Sec Guevarra, a JBC member, also says the impeach raps will not affect the applications. More on that here:
