Basically, if you don't pity the incels you're kind of a jerk, but if you want to actually accommodate the incels' wishes you're kind of a creep.
Slightly more seriously, isn’t violent misogyny actually a core tenet of defining yourself as an “incel” as opposed to, you know, a normal person not currently having sex on the regular?

Is it? Have you read their forums at all? I spent some time reading one the other day.
-
Okay, subtract “terrorism.” I haven’t read the forums. Might do later, don’t want any humans or Google to see me doing it. You have read them and you think some pity is appropriate. Fair enough, but why?
-
I'll tell you, but first I want you to realize how crazy it is to make generalizations about a group of people (especially calling them "terrorists"!) without having read a word they actually say. Isn't that crazy??
-
not sure I can wholly agree. I've read some of the words they say, I just had them intermediated through media proxies since my initial encounter with them was as part of a pretty negative event. was that intermediation selective? sure, it always is
-
I would suggest reading their actual forum at http://incels.me . After reading it, I found a mix. Some were obviously psychopathic trolls, some seemed like violent misogynists, some just seemed like lonely pathetic guys looking for community and belonging.
-
so, as always, the question is, what does it say about a person that they belong to a forum full of psychopaths and violent misogynists and post and read there on the regular? I don't think the answer is "nothing much"
-
If I had the time and energy and didn't have a million other ways to effect social change, I would become a regular poster there and try to steer the people there toward a healthier, better outlook.
-
don't you think the violent misogynists have the exact same idea?
