When they call us thugs, they are calling hard working Australians thugs - the people who care for you in hospitals, who care and educate children, tradies and supermarket workers. We deserve better than these insults

Sussan Ley, on why she's not attending the #JobsSummit: "I refuse to share a room with Union thugs..." Is this the best the LNP can muster? They really are running on empty!

1 in 2 apprentices never complete their apprenticeship. This is a terrible outcome for students, businesses and ultimately Australia. We need to deal with the low wages and workplace issues if this will ever change. #JobsSummit

26,600 Victorian women are locked out of work. It costs Victoria $1.5b every year. If we can’t fix childcare, women will continue to pay the cost for everyone. “Making change here is not just the right thing to do, it’s also the smart thing to do.” #springst

Ballarat Council says “The recommended contractor in this instance has appropriate OHS systems operable to meet the requirements of this project.” 3 people were killed on the job while working for Pipecon. The council gave that company a $2m contract.

Today is Equal Pay Day. To earn the same average annual salary as a man, a woman must work 60 more days after the end of the financial year, and it's getting worse. The new national gender pay gap is 14.1% - an increase of 0.3% over the last 6 months. #genderpaygap

I just spent five months working on a (solicited!) essay about how unions are good for a big fancy publication, only to have it killed five days before it was supposed to run because it “felt too activist-y.” My brother in Christ, did you not Google me first

“I’m going to pay you with the food you pick” is a horrible idea. This proposal by the Farmers Federation is as embarrassing as it is exploitative. Migrant workers deserve the same pay as any other worker. Anything less is illegal.

ABC reports that Aussie company used SLAVE LABOUR to produce it’s gloves. This is us protesting slave labour at Ansell HQ in 2014. They can’t say they didn’t know, we were at their office. They have breached the Modern Slavery Act, CEO & Board should be sacked.
