When they call us thugs, they are calling hard working Australians thugs - the people who care for you in hospitals, who care and educate children, tradies and supermarket workers. We deserve better than these insults

1 in 2 apprentices never complete their apprenticeship.
This is a terrible outcome for students, businesses and ultimately Australia.
We need to deal with the low wages and workplace issues if this will ever change.

"Let's pay attention to emerging employment practices, and make sure they are not crafted to evade obligations.
Let’s look at what keeps workers safe and in their jobs, and structure our laws to enable that." - Oanh, YWC Principal Solicitor at the Jobs & Skills Summit

26,600 Victorian women are locked out of work. It costs Victoria $1.5b every year.
If we can’t fix childcare, women will continue to pay the cost for everyone.

Our children deserve great early learning environments and well supported, skilled educators. That’s why on September 7, early educators are going to take nationwide action to shut down the sector and demand change.

Today is Equal Pay Day. To earn the same average annual salary as a man, a woman must work 60 more days after the end of the financial year, and it's getting worse. The new national gender pay gap is 14.1% - an increase of 0.3% over the last 6 months.

I am incredibly proud of the advocacy of and the union movement around the anti-protest laws. We spent a lot of time making these laws "real" to MLCs and demonstrating how they absolutely would capture so much protest that our community benefits from #politas

“I’m going to pay you with the food you pick” is a horrible idea.
This proposal by the Farmers Federation is as embarrassing as it is exploitative.
Migrant workers deserve the same pay as any other worker. Anything less is illegal.

This is us protesting slave labour at Ansell HQ in 2014.

My son did one year. What made him quit? The unlivable pay and the lack of safety. Boss was putting him in life-endangering situations and threatening him with the sack if he complained. He would have been a good sparky.
