    LFB crews were called to a fire on the roof of a building on the corner of Old Street and Pitfield Street this morning. The fire was brought under quickly and thankfully nobody was injured.

    Congratulations and thank you to Firefighter Billy Coyle who retired today after 30 years of service in London Fire Brigade. Billy spent more than 28 of those years at Homerton Fire Station protecting the people of Hackney. We wish you a wonderful retirement.

    Today, Station Officer Richard Harris retires from Stoke Newington after 30 years service. Richard is the fourth member of his family to have served in London Fire Brigade, a combined service of over 100 years, a truly remarkable achievement. Enjoy your retirement and thank you!

    Hackney Borough Commander Lee Sandy was proud to present FIrefighter Nathan Julien with a commendation today at Stoke Newington for his actions at a flat fire in Islington, rescuing a resident from the second floor, pitching a ladder to her window and bringing her to safety.

    Firefighters and Officers at Shoreditch Fire Station are taking part in Movember in an effort to raise money for The Firefighters Charity which supports injured firefighters and their families and is suffering from a lack of fundraising opportunities like so many other charities.

    Today we said farewell to Fire-fighter Terry Lowe who has retired after 30 years of service in the LFB. Terry spent 28 years at Shoreditch fire station serving the people of Hackney. He'll be sadly missed but we all wish him the very best for the future.

    Twice just this morning fire engines were obstructed whilst responding to incidents in Hackney due to illegal and inconsiderate parking. Please think about where you park and whether your actions could prevent a fire appliance getting to those who need help.

    Yesterday crews from across Hackney came together to honour Major Karl Gray of the Salvation Army who is recovering after spending over a month in intensive care after contracting Covid-19 and to thank him and all his colleagues for their support at incidents.
