how do you control whether copy+pasting sprites updates the map references?
It happens when and only when in map view, but might to also add a toggle switch or something to make that more obvious

You might be interested in the security leak with current #INCLUDE. Will this be resolved in this version (and hopefully add true text file ".txt" load/save ability) ?

Yes, this is fixed for 0.1.12d, along with better handling of text files with CRLF characters
Re: ord(), chr() A possible simplification you might like: When I set up a table for these in the past, it was all in one table. The table would look up a character value if you used a number key, and a number if you used a character key. You could have an all-in-one function.
