NEW: Tonight a special investigation I've been working on about working conditions of drivers who deliver for Amazon. Those we've spoken to present a bleak picture of increased workloads which leave them feeling forced to adopt unsafe (and potentially illegal) working practices.

The arrival of a line of police landrovers has interrupted the attacks over the peacewall. A few bottles being thrown at police but things a bit calmer now.

Remember raising this issue at a couple of policy forums pre-vote 2016 - general response was 'that's so interesting, thanks, for raising that....'

  5. This is the sixth consecutive night of violence in Northern Ireland. The sixth. Talking to those from across the political spectrum in NI tonight there are fears that it may get worse this weekend and beyond into marching season and the summer. V worrying.

Struck by the bravery of a local pastor who put himself in harms way tonight trying to persuade young lads (who’s heads were narrowly being missed by flying rocks) to pack it in and go home. They all greeted him with a friendly “hi father”, then returned to hurling missiles. – at Shankill/Falls Peace Line

I utterly condemn the violent attacks on police, a journalist, and bus driver over recent days in The North. Now is the time for the two Governments and leaders on all sides to work together to defuse tensions and restore calm.

For over an hour now petrol bombs, fireworks and rocks have been thrown over this peacewall. Crowds goading each other through the gaps. Police landrover appeared to try and ram the gates closed but two-and-fro attacks have continued.

The Executive will meet tomorrow morning to be briefed on the violence and street disorder which is causing huge distress in local communities at this time. Those involved in violence, criminal damage, manipulation of our young people and attacks on the police must stop.
