If Brexit Party/UKIP were doing as well as the Lib Dems/Greens are doing we'd be saying the public were sending a clear Brexit message to Westminster. Not sure why we should automatically think they're not just because it's the remainer parties doing well.

My parents vote @LibDems in locals. Have done for years. Always @Conservatives in General Elections. They are as passionately pro-Leave as they come. No way on earth would their vote be a protest for Remain.

        Replying to @OBAHIANO4 @lewis_goodall and

Conservative here who has voted Lib Dem for first time in St Albans (Verulam). Largely due to Conservatives’ anti-business Brexit policy (ie that we should go through with Brexit). So yes protest vote for RemIn.

Worth remembering a smaller result for anti-EU parties caused the then government to announce the referendum.

Sort of? Cameron called it to persuade UKIP voters to shift to Tory. And it worked as they got an overall majority. But who knows, the reverse can happen...?

Cos Brexit Party weren't standing, and UKIP are a shower, so "other" benefited instead from the Leave vote. Now watch the Europeans :D

I think the important thing with the results so far is ... - that had LD *not done so well it would have been spun as ‘no appetite for Remain, PV/CV’ ... So on that basis we can assume there is.

Er they weren't really in local elections. Are your u talking about the European elections in which leavers will undoubtedly send a strong message to Westminster?
