Proposed coinage for Kegan's stage 5: Instead of "postrational", which connotes opposition to rationality, and "metarational", which connotes rationality self-applied, how about "polyrational"? @Meaningness

I like "polyrational"! "Trans" ("transrational") also nicely stands for "beyond" without "meta"'s recursiveness. And while "post" is a rigid next, "trans" feels fluid. I'm inspired by how Cantor named "transfinite numbers" the unexpected richness he discovered in in-finity.

These days "trans" also evokes "transgender" though. I guess Stage 4 is "cis-rational"? :) Against "polyrational", Stage 4 as "monorational" is a bit clumsy on the tongue, but conveniently evokes the pejorative "monoculture".

I've been trying to describe this way of thinking by using "arational" and contrasting it with "irrational". It's not perfect because making something a subset is not the typical use of the a- prefix but it helps break people out the mindset without turning on their defenses.

Hmm. That makes me think of “amoral” vs “moral”
