Everything is simultaneously itself and an instance of the class it belongs to. This is Hofstadter's Prototype of Class and Gendlin's Instance of Itself. As soon as you create anything you create a *class*. This is why the "Uber for X" concept is parseable as soon as Uber exists.

This is only true of interpretations, not things, and moreover of interpretations in Presence At Hand. Equivocation btw the existence of things and the existence of their classes is a mental imprecision that cripples philosophy, even creates religious wars (no jk! ask Ockham).

Also the creation & recognition of their existences. Here, if you don't equivocate: as soon as a thing exists, the affordance to create a class of it exists to a mind trained to abstract classes from such things. Then as soon as the affordance is used the class exists.

Gendlin, Hofstadter, others are *training the mind* to see 'instances of itself' and 'prototypes of class' and then as part of the training they're concealing certain underspecifications of the implementation of the class's formation-affordance, leading to persistent confusions.

Would you agree that analogous confusions are present even when defining a thing—specifying the boundaries of its existence—let alone its class?

Very often! Applying an idea that things should have boundaries in some particular way does often create confusion. But I'm not strictly against confusion, and in these cases I find the confusions more often productive and prosocial, so I'm not usually as concerned about them.
