Apple has cemented a turning point for the future of the web. In building products, the question is moving from “how much data can we gather” to “how little data can we gather” to deliver the same value proposition.

I think an even more interesting approach is how much data can be used temporarily to solve a problem by accessing it directly from a user - without trying to store or own it.

that's why Apple does ML on the device rather than hoovering up user data

Stand does not desire your personal data. Stand does not measure user engagement. Stand does not correlate your activity and purchases. Stand holds your monitor where you want it. $999

I just see how majority of developers start ignoring Apple. It just wants to control identity. Pretty old and egoistic behaviour.

No. It’s how much data do we gather when the platform gathers all, and perhaps are better guardians of it than the vendors. When it should be the users, especially for identity.

eh maybe. Siri listening to everything and Apple Watch tracking everywhere you go and how your body is pretty much well everything. So ok.

Siri doesn’t upload a constant audio stream to Apple. Same for the Apple Watch. All of that happens on device.
