Over time I have learned that an approach that utilizes both Eastern AND Western medicine is what works best for me. When donating a kidney to my diabetic Mother years ago, I was glad for my Surgeon’s training AND I used acupuncture to help prepare my body for organ donation.

Thanks for this, sincerely. As a family, we've decided to focus more on maintaining wellness in order to avoid becoming patients in the system. Thanks for the info!

I work in healthcare. Ask questions. Get second, third and FOURTH opinions if you feel like you should. Don't be afraid to tell your dr no. Do what's best for YOU period.

Traditional western medicine is great for procedures (surgical, emrgncy etc.). Naturopaths do a better job for wellness and health. A similar analogy here would be "You cant spend your way out of debt". Hospitals and docs only stay in business when people are sick.

LeVar! Thank you for teaching me to love reading when I was young, and then rediscover my love as an adult with your podcast! And as an ND but also a pragmatist, thank you for having a head on your shoulders and being able to explain your balanced approach!

Part of the reason it's tricky is because there are a lot of traps offering bogus nonsense, and you fell into one of them.

As an old nurse in Canada I can tell u its the same here. If u only schedule 10-15 min w a pt its easier to give them a pill than to actually look and listen.

Ditto in the UK, if its not on the NICE list of approved options the NHS won't tell you about it. Im keen on Bach Flower remedies and also Reiki as its treating the body as a whole, not just poking at the symptoms instead of looking at the cause.
