I have been a full-time student for 24 years of my life, focusing on some combo of law and/or politics for the last 11, and only encountered a serious, sustained treatment of the paradigm in *year 22*. in an **elective** seminar! during! law! school!

And...am I naive (or completely Canadian here), or is that child’s question not a bad thing (despite it evidently being framed as a tragedy)? The parent might explain that while the child and parents are not personally enacting racist views, the country 1/2

2/2 has a racist history that is still being played out institutionally and structurally today, and so everyone is implicated unless we’re actively working to change it. (In age-appropriate language, ofc.) Right?
