For almost 2 years I have been living an unbelievable and crazy dream. I'm driving from the Netherlands to Australia in an electric car. In 687 days I saw 31 countries and drove 60.000km without visiting a gas station! Can you help me reach the other side of the world?

I understand that 500 Danish academics pledged to avoid flying and wild be interested to see a reference for that.

We aren't doing that because a safe climate depends on getting to zero carbon long before a zero carbon aircraft fleet could be built.

We use the working principles that "Everyone Knows" (extreme reductions in emissions are needed for a safe climate) and "Change Will Come Very Fast".

Oh God! Not another marketing day. This one is now called "Sunshine Saturday" when the travel industry tries to get everyone to book their summer holiday, akin to "Black Friday". Just another bit of hype to increase numbers of flights people take

Denmark has certainly led the way on electricity, but its total CO2 has barely changed since 1990 once aviation, shipping, imports & exports are taken into account. Just shows how far we have to go & how consumptions levels & distribution are pivotal to addressing climate change.

No, no we don’t have 12 years left, , stop saying it. change is already dangerous, 1.5C and more tipping points are only a decade away, and already locked into system due to aerosols Faustian Bargain. Saying we have X years tells people it’s a future problem.

Interesting analysis of Swedish aviation taxation - popularity can be increased if revenues raised are ringfenced to mitigate emissions from the sector
