When I was 23 I took the initiative to build a training document (in the weekends) for future analysts. When I presented it to my manager his advice was “Just keep your head down. Stuff like this is only going to ruffle feathers and lead you no where.”

Wow -sounds like he just didn’t want you to look better in front of his manager. There’s a lot of BS in organisations that young analysts have to deal with
