If they start fighting back, all the advertisers will leave. There is literally nothing they can do, unless you want to ruin the livelihood of all of the thousands upon thousands of creators that make a living from YouTube.

You may be thinking of commentary specifically, but the YT space is much bigger than that. Think of the educational channels, people like

Sponsorships won't pay all the bills, adsense is still a very important part of a lot of creators' incomes. Not everyone suffers from limited ads. It's almost entirely the commentary community that does.

You've got big group chats of commentary creators, don't you? Amass one massive group and ask everyone if they've been actually fucked over by the demonetization, and take count. I'm genuinely interested to see that data as well.
