If they start fighting back, all the advertisers will leave. There is literally nothing they can do, unless you want to ruin the livelihood of all of the thousands upon thousands of creators that make a living from YouTube.

You may be thinking of commentary specifically, but the YT space is much bigger than that. Think of the educational channels, people like

YT money won't be going anywhere for a long time, that's my opinion. But even if it does, we shouldn't hasten it's death, and I think YT knows that. Better to play it cool. The people I mentioned need the money. They have to pay people. It's their job. YT knows that.

The media is going to destroy themselves at this rate. It might take a while, but when the only audience they have dies of old age in a few years time they'll be completely obsolete.
