Alex - you're right about the underserved - not the same as the unbanked. Banks can serve everyone but have to have varied customer/digital propositions to solve different customer problems and provide the value that the customer wants in each segment

To Close Thank you for following along. How we look at the financial space depends on your roots - your lens is colored by what your experiences are. Disruption may be the norm, but let’s work together to make banking inclusive to all needs. Thank you everyone!

Opportunities With digital applications, there is no reason we have to be focused on millennials. We all use technology in very similar ways. Build for the needs for all of us. That means you too neobanks. ; )

YES! Development of new technology have given adults in developing countries access to transaction accounts to store, send, and receive payments. But more needs to be done still.

One of the biggest opportunities is how we interact with our customers through digital. This is increasingly intimate at scale. We need to watch how fintech startups are leveraging AI, advanced analytics, and behavioral science

Q8 Crossovers The ongoing blur between commerce and financial applications will continue as more life apps - or mini convenience apps evolve within Alipay and WeChat ecosystems. Marketplaces in Europe and the US will try to follow the Chinese model. Time will tell.

So true. This makes me recall a quote from Bill Gates during a 2007 launch event: "Information technology and business are becoming inextricably interwoven. I don't think anybody can talk meaningfully about one without the talking about the other."

Q7 Inclusion We can no longer pretend the “Invisible Hand” is working The opportunity to build banking applications to serve the global undeserved is perhaps the biggest imperative we must face.

Q7 Inclusion The World Bank estimates that about 1.7 billion adults remain unbanked globally – without an account at a financial institution or through a mobile money provider. Banks must be part of this solution.

Can banks serve everyone? Many don’t think it’s profitable to do so. Let’s change that thinking. We need to think about the role bank’s play in global society. I wrote about that in International Banker recently:

Look to the East for innovation as would say. Reminds me of a recent report I read from . What they are doing and the stats are simply fascinating.

Q6 SMEs And I really like what firms like are doing to make positive impacts on larger and larger SMEs - the commercial banking space is also ripe for various forms of disruption - we have to streamline processed for business as they too adjust their models

Thank you for the questions …I would say to be able to meet the more complex needs of SMEs you must have scale and technology capabilities which point to incumbents and tech providers - but in more efficient use of credit we have seen fintechs take the lead.

Q5 More on the eastern commerce-payments-banking model Will Europe and the U.S. let these massive marketplaces enter their markets or will they emulate them? We are simply innovating too slow.
