Reading and writing C code makes me so sad. All I can think of is how much better everything about it (code, tests, deps, build system) would be in Rust. It feels...dirty...wading into a large C codebase to get something done.

"I did a line-for-line port of my eval library from Go to Rust, and right away it was 5x faster [...] I was able to boost performance 12000x" Wish could understand just half of this article on "How to write fast code" 👇

A work-in-progress implementation of vector textures via sparse virtual texturing. This allows an SVG to be used as a texture for any mesh at effectively infinite resolution without using much GPU memory.

If you are a C or C++ programmer somehow still on the fence about whether or not you should take seriously, consider this piece from Cliff Biffle an absolute must-read:

Like a lot of other companies, Robinhood is bullish on Kubernetes. However, we have also found that adopting this exciting technology poses some unique challenges. Solving these has produced some interesting technology like our novel “Archetype Framework.”

I’m really impressed with what has done with Juniper (GraphQL for Rust). It’s amazing what you can do when you can hook into the compiler itself, it’s what all GraphQL servers should look like.

I don't think I mentioned it here but I'll be giving a talk at about and . Fun fact, I was in the room when GraphQL was invented at Facebook but I had nothing to do with it!

We are starting to use more Rust and GraphQL in these days. I am totally blown away by how fast Rust is. If a request takes more than 30 ms it is slow. The 95th percentile from our Rails API is around 200-300 ms.
