If you don't live in SF now, then you don't know just how bad it has gotten in the last 18 months. When did you leave?

I left for good about 6 months ago, but went back to visit a month ago. Heroin and property crime on the rise are not unique to SF, but property crime has always been higher in coastal CA. I was there for this that SFPOA spent money against under previous DA.pic.twitter.com/mwz80Rlgdo

Ask anyone who has lived there long enough and they will tell you SFPOA pins their ineptitude and laziness on every successive DA. Every time we try to force them to do their job they fight it with great success (for them). They regularly make $400k/yr, they can do their job.

I've lived here for 26 years and we have never run the experiment that @chesaboudin is running right now, charging/convicting virtually no one. He did run on this premise, and we are now seeing the direct results. and no, Police aren't great either.

Explain your take on Prop R and why SFPD were against it. If they have no interest in making arrests, what can the DA do?https://ballotpedia.org/San_Francisco,_California,_Neighborhood_Crime_Unit_Creation,_Proposition_R_(November_2016) …

Property crime is bad, that's undeniable. Violent crime has been trending down and SF has less of it than 54 other major cities.

Per capita, SF's violent crime is actually stilll pretty bad but we are a tiny city so the #'s are small. Quality of life has plummeted in the last 2 years and definitely ain't improving with Chesa policies. https://www.neighborhoodscout.com/ca/san-francisco/crime …

Their methodology includes every single zip code and not adjusted to compare comparable cities.https://www.neighborhoodscout.com/about-the-data/crime-rates …

And correlation with whatever the DA is doing in no way implies causation. SFPD is immediately let off the hook in every discussion. They refuse to do foot patrols or respond to calls for theft and many other things. Many have stopped calling bc they won't respond.

Remember during the last mayoral elections when Breed had foot patrol walking Market st. and crime immediately plummeted? I walked through there everyday, I remember well. After the election they stopped the foot patrol, results were entirely predictable.

Police are the first line in deterring crime. They have failed and show no interest in doing their job as you can see illustrated in their campaign against Prop R and lack of general presence on the street and lack of responding to crime.

They are paid well to do their job regardless of what the DA does or does not do. https://transparentcalifornia.com/salaries/search/?a=san-francisco&q=officer&y= …

The DA is doing nothing it would literally be the same if his office was empty. Police are understaffed for our size city and also not bothering to arrest as many as they should because of Prop 47. I’m no Police booster but ignoring Chesa’s little experiment is willfully blind.
