On this 4th of July we acknowledge the gap between our nation’s ideals and the racism that pervades our criminal legal system. While we create new polices, expand language access, and end the death penalty in San Francisco, we continue to fight for our ideals.

The news and social media have been hitting it hard, that's for sure. The actual data tells a different story. Few people ever investigate or read beyond the headline.

4 houses on my block have been burgled in 12 mos and I had a guy try to get into my house after dropping in from the roof just before Covid. Literally everyone I know has a story. I actually don't think the media is actually capturing how bad it is in some neighborhoods.

Per capita, SF's violent crime is actually stilll pretty bad but we are a tiny city so the #'s are small. Quality of life has plummeted in the last 2 years and definitely ain't improving with Chesa policies. https://www.neighborhoodscout.com/ca/san-francisco/crime …
