Working thru mommy and daddy issues by impractical policies is leaving a wake of apocalyptic level drug dealing, homelessness and violence in the streets, but SF has always been just a stepping stone toward more grandiose visions driven by a vacuous, narcissistic void.

It's good that you can empathize with what it's like for children who grow up with parents in prison. As you've acknowledged, they're victims of this whole thing as well.

Empathizing with that has nothing to do with hand-waving policies making it unsafe for all children in SF, not just ones whose parents are in prison.

I didn't read it as excluding all other children. That would be pretty unthinkable. Violent crime has been going down and this is the first time I'm hearing of the unsafe for children thing.

New video shows the moment 94-year-old Anh ‘Peng’ Taylor was stabbed by 35-year-old Daniel Cauich Wednesday morning on Post Street near Leavenworth. Police arrested the suspect shortly after the unprovoked attack. More details tonight @kpixtv#sanfrancisco pic.twitter.com/Pg6zP0po8f1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

The charges for this stabbing were not downgraded. That headline is false. He's being charged with "Attempted homicide, elder abuse, battery, and probation violation." I'm not sure what more severe charges would be.

For someone who asks for empathy, it seems you are unable to empathize with families who live in SF and have to deal with this kind of violence which is commonplace here. It's easy to support ideologies when you don't have to see it.

Of course I do, but I also know how easy it is to sensationalize these things. We have the largest prison population in the world by far for a reason. Absolutely more that can be done, but blaming one part at the expense of all others doesn't solve the problems.

No you are not empathizing when you dismiss what we who live in SF are seeing every day as "sensationalizing".https://twitter.com/DionLimTV/status/1399209097946288128?s=19 …

If all the available data shows that violent crime has been on a downward trajectory, but people *feel* like it's less safe, what do you call that? I know it's used in politics a lot, but don't know the term for it.

The numbers don't always reflect reality. Many in SF have grown to no consequences of crime due to poor prosecution, that they don't even call police. The last two times I called police after having over $1000 worth stolen from me they did nothing so I stopped calling.

Yeah, property crime is crazy high there. I remember when there was a ballot initiative to create a task force solely dedicated to those crimes. POA campaigned against it and it lost. Beat cops are a deterrent, but I have no idea how to address the root causes.
