Politically speaking, whether or not the data indicates crime in SF is *actually* rising literally doesn't matter. All that matters is what people *believe*. Sufficiently widespread belief in lawlessness will cause politicians who don't take it seriously to lose their jobs.

Crime rates are less important to me than specific instances of willful neglect and disastrous policy by
