What is even arguably the point of this @sfchronicle story? That we should assume anyone who tries to steal a cell phone is going to shoot their mother?
This is dangerous, fearmongering journalism in its purest form. It's got it all. 1/https://www.sfchronicle.com/crime/article/Man-accused-of-killing-mother-in-Sacramento-was-15897826.php …

No. Merely that we should assume that a robber is a danger to the public generally and should be locked away, not handed off, especially if we have to suspect incompetence or "criminals are victims" leniency. If
@chesaboudin had done so, he would not have caused further harm.5 replies 0 retweets 3 likes -

That isn't fact. People who rob are not necessarily dangerous to the public at all. You're trafficking in the same stereotypes as the article.

“rob•ber•y rŏb′ə-rē n. The act or an instance of unlawfully taking the property of another by the use of violence or intimidation.” I have a hunch if somebody did that to you, you wouldn’t like it. Not one bit. Wake up.

The blame can’t be shared? Either/or only? EDD is out $31B and that’s not done by the feds or our feckless congress, that’s a CA government right here, right now.
