She says she's known there was trouble in San Francisco since her 2019 visit from Japan to the world-famous city. But she didn't know DA Chesa Boudin's lenient handling of repeat offenders, could lead to her own daughter's death.https://abc7news.com/9787391/?ex_cid=TA_KGO_TW&taid=60063f2b6800350001f0fa10&utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+Trending+Content&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=twitter …

I wouldn’t place all the blame on
@chesaboudin - we also had unsafe streets that were a group project of all city planners helping make the infrastructure choices. We have many hit and runs getting pedestrians and bikers and criminal justice reform won’t make safe streets3 replies 0 retweets 9 likes -
Between the vehicle itself, Mr McAlister, street design/planning,
@SFPD and@chesaboudin in his capacity as@SFDAOffice - to name five points of reference, how would you apportion blame on this instance?1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes -

I’d start with the majority goes to Troy McAlister. Who isn’t mentioned in the original articles first several paragraphs.

Agreed, the vast majority of blame goes to Troy McAlister. Which is not to excuse or deflect culpability on the other parties’ lack of action, either deliberate or by omission: his being out of custody & those that made that possible, which is what enabled him to do what he did.

I’m just honestly shocked on MLK Jr day the news running an emotional appeal against criminal justice reform. The editorial choice is something. The focus of blame on criminal justice reform for their deaths rather than a broader analysis today of all days is just... a lot.

It is a lot. But I wouldn’t necessarily frame it as being “against the concept” of CJR. At the end of the day, if Troy McAlister is the face of Boudin’s efforts at CJR, it’s as good as a lead balloon, and that’s not totally unreasonable to most people given his record & crimes.
