Today, my office filed homicide charges against the former officer who shot and killed Keita O’Neil, an unarmed, Black man in 2017. As far as we are aware, this is the first time in San Francisco history that an officer has been prosecuted for homicide.

Is “San Francisco making history” the goal? How aware can you be when murders and robberies are way up, yet you deflect with “overall crime is down” as if the fate of this city is inconsequential?

This sat without charges or a prosecution for 3 years before the current DA’s decision to arrest and prosecute. Why is that?
