Today, my office filed homicide charges against the former officer who shot and killed Keita O’Neil, an unarmed, Black man in 2017. As far as we are aware, this is the first time in San Francisco history that an officer has been prosecuted for homicide.

There’s a whole forest behind that tree you’re staring at, my guy!

The SFPD won't be able to solve crimes if the people don't trust them. Demonstrating accountability makes us more likely to report crimes and cooperate with the police - that's how you move toward a safer city.

Chesa isn’t out to restore trust btw SFPD & the public. He has an agenda and a “movement” to oversee, and it’s worth noting this prosecution of the fired officer sat in a drawer for three years, untouched by the prior DA who decamped to LA. This isn’t about a safer city, IMO.

Exactly. Cheeza's goal is to be a "soapbox DA" for America, not to do right by his constituents. I'm a constituent and feel absolutely ignored. Maybe the people of Alabama feel a little better.

It is kind of a big deal, and you're making an assumption that this fact was shared out of ego. I can easily believe it's more of a "holy shit, can you believe this is the first cop to actually face homicide charges. EVER!" We need more accountability. This is a good start.
