I have used my "cone stack" drill as an asessment tool for years. It helps the coaches to identify so many components to movement. Simple drill but shows a lot of "good" stuff. Plus, the athletes love this drill so they usually go all out.

Have always been connected to tennis speed and performance- but being back in Florida full time is an amazing way to ramp up my passion for the sport and how on-court speed can be evaluated and implemented!

Drills only holds water if there's consistency and context. Athletes struggle w/ drills that're sparingly introduced + have no meaning to them when they perform. When athletes get good at a drill with no context they often become social media stars and sport bench warmers.

Your knowledge as a Coach today might be perfect! But next year you are worse if you are in the same place as you are today!

If all I knew it took to occupy my dog for hours was a gecko running outside the fence, I would have moved to Florida sooner. Mad Stare-down!

Best when I coach what I have coached most! I love to challenge that sphere/expand it each year. No rush because I don't just want to regurgitate- I want to own it, so I can coach it at a high level. Seeing too many coaches coach out of their sphere vs mastering their sphere!

A tennis player constantly uses a split step to preload the legs in order to attack into a new space quickly. The split not only takes advantage of the elastic energy but predetermined the angle of application into the ground and take off angle. Back in Florida Tennis, Baby! 🎾

not saying you have to start your day at 5am like I do, but if you’re not finding time to get more done and build more momentum, you need to consider rising early with a plan and habits in place. Rarely do excuses come from those with a plan! The blame game doesn’t work!

If you want to be successful in any area from scratch, you have to get on a road with very few exit ramps! Don’t make it easy to give up and take a different path...fight! Isn’t this what we want our athletes to do?

Really, youth development and older adult training are not that different. Protect them as they progress through strong foundational movements, increase stability/mobility demands, use variation as a stimulus for growth, and progress or regress to meet needs.
