Cognitive Dissonance is a heck of a thing. As that Marvel news shows, folks can twist any evidence around to support their biases.
The depressing thing about Ghost in the Shell not doing well is Hollywood will claim that women-led films are the problem, not whitewashing.

The whitewashing isn't leading to poor ticket sales, it's being a crass imitation of what an 8 year old would think GITS is all about.

The over-explanation "this is a ghost", etc, was annoying. Plus there was no need to make it an origin story.

Won't watch, don't need to care about cack-handed live action remakes... GITS 1995 is pretty damn perfect and shall remain a classic.

As remakes go, this is a good one, although story altered. You're right about the anime being classic, though. Btw, u prefer vinyl or mp3?

The problem is Hollywood not telling stories worth thinking about. Anime GITS is a very deep and emotional story, not an action film.
