This is totally inappropriate and a dangerous precedent. The process for listing entities should be based on evidence of a group meeting a legal threshold, not the whims of popular opinion. This move risks turning a (already imperfect) legal process into political theatre.

The real problem is that the listing process itself is little more than theatre. You can’t call that “process” legal, imperfect or otherwise. There is no prior notice of the listing, the evidence is secret, and all $ to hire lawyers to challenge listing decision is frozen.

That’s not the point. The point is to allow the legal process to play out rather than having politicians interfere or appear to interfere with that process, thus (further) diminishing its credibility.
