Stop the scare tactics. Bottom line: Taxing the hardworking paychecks of Texans would be disastrous to our Texas economy and would greatly harm public education. Which is why Texans of all backgrounds & political stripes overwhelmingly oppose an income tax. #VoteFORProp4https://twitter.com/NoelCandelaria/status/1187699976115240960 …

False. #Prop4 is bad 4 public education. It purports to ban a personal income tax in Texas. IT DOESN’T. If adopted, it would remove from the state constitution a guarantee that any $ raised by an income tax be dedicated to improving education funding. 👇 pic.twitter.com/7ghg4CAMuX pic.twitter.com/ZqS0bFQJW2

*or* buying down the unaffordable property taxes--that in no way relate to the ability to pay--with an income tax makes sure that taxes are pegged to your ability to pay makes a lot of sense

Scare tactics? Facts are facts. 1/In truth, the state constitution already has a provision, the so-called “Bullock amendment” adopted in 1993, to prohibit the Legislature from imposing a personal income tax without voter approval.

2/That provision already protects taxpayers, and it also includes a requirement of major importance to public schools.

This is a bi-partisan issue. Nothing should ever be done to make it easier to impose a state income tax. Full stop. Texas attracts businesses more than almost any other state.

They already tax us for school funding through property taxes. Why would you ever want to ADD an additional Income TAX???

Texans oppose a state income tax. No state income tax for ANY purpose. Texas already has a very healthy budget surplus...use it for education but stay out of our pockets.

Language from Prop 4: “...tax on an individual’s share of partnership and unincorporated association income.” Is this not the Texas Franchise Tax? This is a yes/no question.
