Most of these OSS foundations (trade associations according to @_msw_ ) are good for sales & marketing people to hang out and do marketing without the accountability that comes with working for a vendor. I don't see Linux Foundation / CNCF events quite that way. Well curated session tracks should have good educational opportunities for engineers. That's part of the ecosystem building purpose of trade associations: workforce training.
