Today the CSLBS joins with those who recognize the anniversary of August 1, 1838 the date of full freedom from British slavery. In recognition, we offer the final section of Jamaican poet Lorna Goodison's 2017 poem, Testimony of First of August Negroes: The Last to be set Free.
