    Caucuses are SUPER exclusionary, and even as someone who supports Bernie it makes me angry he was so aggressively pro-caucus.

    This picture, while adorable, just really drives home how the Iowa caucuses can be prohibitive for families with young children who aren't able to easily find childcare.

    (To be clear, the official app shows the exact same data I do, but makes you tap through to see exact numbers. Showing exact values on the map screen is worthwhile. Even given the extra information, my colors + numbers are less visually noisy than the % icons in the official app)

    2. The data isn’t perfect. If an app claims a station has exactly 1 bike, it might be worth going out of your way to try a different dock. That’s why I always show the exact number the API returns. The 3 colors are a rough guide, but for the “a few” case you want the full #.

    1. The official app shows what % of bikes a station has. That’s meaningless: 25% availability of a 40-person dock is more bikes than 75% of a 10-bike dock! I color stations based on how many absolute bikes are there: zero bikes, a ton of bikes, or a few (IIRC 1-6) bikes

    I haven’t touched it in years, but it’s great to see my CitiBike app both still works and still has significantly better information architecture and usability than the official app.

    A N95 mask filters out particles above 0.3 microns. I can’t find reliable coronavirus numbers, but SARS was 0.1 microns. Just wash your hands regularly, and always before eating. And get a flu shot if you haven’t.
