These data for Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC)-- kids that arrive at our border alone, or in some cases are separated from relatives prior to release from border patrol-- are from the Dept of Health and Human Services.
In FY'19 an avg of 12K kids are detained monthly

A lot to say on this. The "Migrant Protection Plan" forces asylum seekers to wait in some of the most dangerous parts of Mexico, places w/travel restrictions due to violence & safety concerns for duration of their case. Currently 51K asylees are waiting cbsn.ws/2LZS9BK

This was the response to the peaceful protests against #RemainInMexico today. Shooting smoke bombs on the bridge, terrorizing our community on both sides of the border. And all as a show of “force.” It’s shameless and cowardly. There are children on the bridge.

1 in 30 kids in facilities visited by OIG (>300 kids) are on medications that significantly impact psychological development — in no cases were families involved in decision or consent.
Uncertain access/coverage for post release care, kids leave w/supply of meds & referral.
