Congratulations to Scott Graf! Scott has been the bridge between my office, journalists and PIOs in agencies in Idaho and across the nation. He's professional, thoughtful and highly skilled. I have relied on his counsel many times. I know he will do great things in his new role!

Congratulations, Betsy. You’ve set a high bar for Idaho political reporting. Both the quality and volume of your work will be missed. I also want to thank you for your partnership over the years on our open government trainings. May the slopes treat you well!

The mailer is similar to one that surfaced in January, which was supposedly from the State of Idaho. The new one is made to look like it's from Ada County. It is fake. My advice if you get one in the mail? Toss it.

Anytime you pick up the phone and you're being threatened or told to act very quickly, it's likely a scam. Hang up. Even better - don't answer if it's a number you don't recognize. Legitimate callers will leave a voicemail and you can call them back.

This scam - and others similar to it - works because of its threatening nature. When we pick up the phone and the person on the other end is threatening our arrest, it creates duress. When we're under duress, we do things we otherwise wouldn't.

There's a system in place in the U.S. to deal with those who break the law. It does *not* include police calling to threaten arrest unless they're paid with gift cards. It sounds absurd, but this scam can work. Please mention to anyone you know who might risk falling victim.

Thank you for covering this important subject, Misty. Scammers are targeting all of us and consumer education is the best tool to fight back.

I want to thank the victims for their willingness to participate as witnesses in this case. Doing so was very difficult at times but each one showed bravery well beyond their years. I commend them for their steadfastness. Without them, justice would not have been served.

You don’t need to do anything or pay anyone to sign up for the new Student Debt Relief Plan. Nobody can get you in early, help you jump in line, or guarantee eligibility. Anybody who says they can or tries to charge you is a scammer. 2/3
