Comey joking about prison rape of journalists has got to be the moment, right? No one's pretending he's just a naive but well-meaning guy anymore, right? Bring to a close this very weird "akshully, the FBI is America" moment in history.

Comey made the crack about executing them and/or putting them in prison, where Trump made the crack about rape and Comey laughed. Is there some universe where this is not ghoulish?

Some national security types have tried to argue to me that Comey's talking about putting LEAKERS in prison ("putting a head on a pike"), but I don't see jailing sources as any funnier than jailing reporters.

I'm also against prison rape of gov't officials

Exactly. (I'm probably more against "jokes about prison rape" than I am against "jokes about locking up leakers," but it's a close contest either way.)

Yes, agreed. The fact that Comey made the first joke and laughed at the second is pretty damning, and surely ghoulish.

Yes. I was complaining about this last night. If only those memos had been out BEFORE he sat down to schmooze with Remnick?

I assume Comey’s “head on a pike” comment meant prosecuting leakers of classified information to dissuade others from doing the same thing.

That's how I read it
