I enjoyed having dinner tonight at the home of Senator John Cornyn and his wife Sandy with our newest Supreme Court Justice, Neil Gorsuch, Transportation Secretary Chao and a few of my other Senate colleagues to talk about important issues facing our country.

Statement from Sen. Lamar Alexander re: Gorsuch dinner: "Last night's dinner was purely social. We weren't discussing political activities and we certainly know better than to discuss any issues before the court."

Oh really? Can we get the transcripts to prove there was nothing going on like that? I doubt it! This just wreaks of impropriety, and it needs to be fully investigated and prosecuted to it's fullest for taking advantage of the people you all are supposed to represent.

Oh boy. That inspires confidence. Whatever happened to jurists "avoiding even the appearance of impropriety?"

'Justice done and seen to be done' has a partner: 'no conflict, or apparent conflict, of interest'. How does an SCJ not understand that?

His own earlier tweet kind of contradicts the whole "purely social" aspect. And they are republicans, so we know the last part is just bullshit.

Right. So when he said they talked about “important issues facing our country”, he meant only those important issues that have nothing to do with politics or issues that the court might decide. Which is like, all the stuff, amirite???
