Hopefully you know that I already know all that. How is any of that relevant to criticism of gerrymandering? Was gerrymandering intended by Founders as check on majority?

The problem you identify isn't caused by the electoral college; it's caused by state law apportionment of electoral votes. States don't need to adopt winner-take-all. California & NY should lead by example & provide proportional electoral votes.

But I keep hearing residents of NY and CA complain that the electoral college unfairly (immorally?) disenfranchises voters. Those residents should be anxious to correct this injustice in their own states.

I'm not even sure that is the argument ppl jn NY make-- don't they just want the person who wins the most votes to win the election?
