I mean, one thing that this essay seems to ignore is that readers LOVED this narrative.

This piece does not mention Mike Allen. This did not happen in a vacuum. And I think it misrepresents the DC press corps by ignoring all the reporters who don't do this type of reporting

Well, it does mention Politico in general. I didn’t take it as a sweeping vilification of political journalism, just a certain approach.

I think all these different approaches can coexist on parallel tracks. There's a place for insidery gossip ... as well as real scoops, policy analysis, investigative reporting etc etc

I'm not even sure if her characterization of his "narrative" is even accurate. I mean since when was the New Republic trying to beat wires/tv/dailies for scoops?
