Why would they have done that? Gorsuch is near perfect pick from their perspective. More serious question is why they didnt exert leverage elsewhere.

If R Senators blocked SCOTUS nominees, I’d blame them, not Trump. I’d blame Trump for the million other things he’s responsible for.

They wouldn’t necessarily have needed to block, just get on their senate-issued high horses and make a noise that was tied to something tangible. Gorsuch was nominated, what, four days, after the first travel ban?
