So far, Trump’s circuit noms have - flipped 2 evenly divided circuits to conservative majorities (CA 7, 11) - entrenched conservative majorities 2 courts that were coming closer to parity (CA5, CA6) - created 10-1 split in CA8 He’s now poised to flip CA2 and evenly divide CA3.

I think he's talking about ideology, not just partisan affiliation of the judges' appointers. At the end of 2016, there were 4 liberals (Rovner, Wood, Williams, and Hamilton) and 4 conservatives (Flaum, Easterbrook, Kanne, and Sykes) on the court. Posner was the swing vote. 1/

Now there are 3 liberals (Rovner, Wood, and Hamilton) and 7 conservatives (Flaum, Easterbrook, Kanne, Sykes, Barrett, Brennan, and Scudder) on the court. Depending on how you see her, St. Eve is either a centrist (taking the place of Posner) or a fourth liberal on the court. 2/2
