Lawrence Hurley Retweeted Senator Rand Paul

This was a vote that some thought might have been in doubthttps://twitter.com/RandPaul/status/1023956356766855168 …

    Lawrence Hurley added,

    Senator Rand PaulVerified account @RandPaul
After meeting Judge Kavanaugh and reviewing his record, I have decided to support his nomination. No one will ever completely agree with a nominee (unless of course, you are the nominee). Each nominee however, must be judged on the totality of their views character and opinions.

On a related note, now that senators seem to routinely announce how they are going to vote BEFORE the confirmation hearing, is there even a point in having one?

Oh, I don't think you did. But I think we (I use we broadly here) go through this will-he-or-won't-he when he has a very clear pattern of behavior that should make it hard to take him seriously when he starts rumbling about stuff like this.

Who is “some?” All the pundits on Twitter I follow said this is the typical charade from Senator Paul, and expecting no other outcome.

Who exactly doubted this? GOP always falls in line, always. There's no maverick...McCain and Collins were the closest but they don't have that much stomach to buck their party. Compare that with someone like Manchin for example.

For everyone complaining how Rand Paul “isn’t standing up to Trump”: I see it as Rand Paul knows that delaying this nomination could possibly result in getting a nominee that he agrees with even less if Democrats take the Senate in Nov. He’s probably making the logical choice.
