Sotomayor's solo dissent reads like a call to arms for voting rights advocates: "Communities that are disproportionately affected by unnecessarily harsh registration laws should not tolerate efforts to marginalize their influence"pic.twitter.com/W3xFlZ4kwH

In majority opinion, Alito's response to Sotomayor: "Justice Sotomayor's dissent says nothing about what is relevant in this case" and she has "not pointed to any evidence in the record that Ohio instituted or carried out its program with discriminatory intent."

Note: no one said today's ruling was "narrow" as a result of it being 5-4

What do you mean by solo dissent? It was a 5-4 decision.

Justice Breyer wrote the main dissent, which the other liberals joined. But Sotomayor wrote her own as well that no one joined

This makes me think Mitch McConnell knew what Russia was planning for the 2016 election, and why he blocked Obama from getting Merrick Garland to go to a a vote. McConnell is up to his turtle shell in the Russia story.

It is amazing that states and parties are afraid of voters. Why would you keep people off the voting rolls unless you have something to hide?

That’s just it. #Republicans are SCARED of people who vote against them. That’s why they try to suppress their vote.

But I bet you need an ID to work, buy alcohol, board a plane, open a bank account, get into the military and on and on. Voting is a supreme right of America’s citizens and we take it seriously and having an ID cuts out on fraud. There’s nothing harsh there.
