I've been dealing with a horrible identity theft situation for a year+, and each time I find a new issue and the creditor asks me to "verify the phone number on the account" after I already told them THE ACCOUNT IS NOT UNDER MY PHONE NUMBER my spirit dies just a bit more.

She a brilliant, empathetic reporter. And when she traveled to her home state of MS to cover the water crisis, it is no wonder that a quarter of the traffic to her story came from Jackson, despite an influx of nat'l media. They knew that she got it right.

Newspapers must do what they can to survive. But putting ALL good reporting under lock & key is a terrifying prospect for democracy. Some can't pay, or won't. Some don't trust the media and need to see us working to build it back. They deserve access to quality news and info.

News revenue models have fundamentally changed, with many for-profit news outlets banking on paywalls for survival, putting quality info under lock and key while free stuff -- some good, some bad, some very dangerous -- abounds here on Al Gore's internet.
