After 7 or so months in the works, my article on the beautiful history of mourning jewellery and its resurgence is finally alive and kicking on . It’s a very special piece formed from thoughts that have kicked around in my head, heart - and notes - for years.

It’s been 16 years but I still think the reason my life is lacking meaningful happiness is because I never got a “Bratz Plugged In - Luscious Lips Landline Telephone” and I just have to accept that

Do you know what I really miss? Company Magazine. How dare they give me such grand aspirations of working at a print publication that had a fun layout, while balancing (incredibly 2010) fashion and sound features with a huge topic range only to stop printing in 2014? Upsetting.

very excited for autumn when the lads can officially start reading their slutty little mystery books while wearing their slutty little fisherman’s jumpers

So my dissertation got a very (no, seriously) unexpected first! All that time spent blubbing over legislation that kept changing every few weeks and profuse sweating paid off, I guess!

Here’s photographic evidence that I’m the mother of a bound and bouncing baby dissertation (that I both love and loathe in equal measure.) Higher education has been a real slice, guys.

October is rough. All I want is to be three years old again, holding my Dad’s hand at the beach. I miss him all the time. Even though it’s a Happy Haunting 💛

#Eurovision is cute these days, but I think it misses the healthy dose of Batshit™ that once graced its stage. I’m tired of watching gorgeous men with a wavering falsetto go plinky-plonk. Bring back the sentient disco balls PLEASE.

Remember when Hayao Miyazaki introduced us to Ursula, the artist lesbian who lives in the woods, and expected us not to fixate over her lifestyle, enamel mugs and magpie friends??

Back briefly on Twitter to reiterate that Young Bill from Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! is truly, madly, deeply fit and the whole bit with Donna wearing his fishing jumper has given me much to think about

Gave a lift to a little hitchhiker this morning - he conked out on the train steps so picked him up to stop him getting squashed. Ended up carrying half the way to work before he flew off! 🐝

Entering the 2nd month of 2021 with my 2nd (ever) embroidery! Spent many hours cramping my hand on hundreds of tiny French knots, but that’s time I would’ve used doom-scrolling on Twitter. It’s a tiny boat on huge rolling waves, with lighthouse beams breaking through. Fitting.

when i got these glasses i was convinced it was through the divine influence of Louis Theroux, but the real inspiration came from Yorkie, of San Junipero origin, the whole time

As a platform, you need to have a good fucking look at how your site hosts, funds and spreads the rhetoric of hateful, insidious people - which has been proven, time and time again, to fuel horrific acts like this. Shove your platitudes. It feels like too little, too late.

Hello World, this is Ted. He’s 9 weeks old, cracks a mean fart, loves tummy rubs and thinks anything black-and-white is friend-coloured. He’s taking everything in his stride. And in his mouth.

Over the past two years I’ve taken (almost too many) photos of artwork that I’ve enjoyed, so I wanted to make a lil’ project looking at ~curves~ and outlines!

Can we please ban men telling me I look tired in the year of our lord 2019? I know I’m tired. I feel it. In my bones. And when you say this to me, I want to unhinge my jaw and suck the energy out of you like a Capri-sun.

Today I submitted my dissertation, which was the heftiest, longest and easily the hardest piece of academic work I’ve ever done (the damn thing stressed me half to death, but I still managed to do it!) In short, I’m ridiculously and unashamedly proud of myself.

Got complimented on my lovely “matte plum lipstick” today, but didn’t have the heart to tell her the reason it’s gone matte is because my entire mouth is laden with flour from the top of a Greggs breakfast butty.

I have Generalised Anxiety Disorder and last year, during a very bad brain spell, I chopped all my hair off. So I wrote for about the therapeutic qualities of haircuts and how pop-culture has cemented their mystical powers.

The clapping is a wonderful gesture and our frontline healthcare workers are something else entirely but wouldn’t something else... like cash... or legal tender... or a bigger budget... be useful to them... in these dark times....?

pals, I’m happy to report that my confidence has finally been irreversibly bolstered by sneaking a big ol’ bag of wine into a fest arena by concealing the whole thing in my bra - tap between the tits and everything.

I wasn’t going to post anything but then again, I’m 5 years down the line and hey! It fucking hurts. The sting doesn’t even come from missing him. It comes from no longer being able to remember the good, unsick bits. I’d never seen this photo before today.

That magazine made me want to write for publications. I remember its papery art-style pages (never glossy) and the Tumblr-esque chalk typeface in black boxes. A product of its time but also, I think, what mainstream magazines are trying to do with their vapid 'girlboss' approach.
