They literally stood up there and told people that a mask would make it worse. Now we can’t figure out why people won’t wear them.

WHY didn’t they just say, “we are not sure.” Why did they say it was in fact harmful? Is it because they didn’t want a rush on the supply before the hospitals and other facilities like nursing homes could stock up? Is it because politically they didn’t like the optics of it?

My understanding has been to avoid mask hoarding. Bad, bad decision.

I am so angry about this. They were saying "no need to wear masks, only needed for medical workers, etc."

My friend works at a NY hospital and at the beginning of this *they were not allowed* to wear masks. Could not even bring in their own.

Had the same vibe as when they told us the air was totally fine downtown after 9/11. It just didn't square with logic...
