If a gun ban would have been in place, the shooter wouldn’t have had a gun, now would he? Also, people don’t ask to ban all guns and in general not hand guns. The kid in Maryland used a hand gun.

Sadly, your argument fails because the person who stopped the shooter, if the shooter didn’t kill himself, was a school resource officer. He is law enforcement. They still do not know how the younger boy was injured. Let’s wait to see who shot whom before we decide what happened.

Universal background checks and personal sale loopholes closed, ban on large capacity magazines, red flag laws and universal health care, so that people can get the mental health care they might need.

Actually red flag laws would have. The police that visited that house would have been able to search the residence and hold any firearms.

It can’t hurt, can it? And why not have both alternatives while we’re at it?

Why should free people surrender their privacy so corporations can go on selling weapons of war?

It also takes away their option of Kevlar backpacks. I don't know how many, if any, have them, but now they don't have that choice. They shouldn't have to have that choice to just go to school, but now it's another thing that could make them feel safe that's no longer an option
-
I was just gonna say, what about all the bulletproof backpacks that students have bought?
-
Well, hopefully they can return them... Or this clear backpack thing will fade away within the next few weeks...
-
Riding the El in Chicago I see a lot of kids with clear backpacks.

I'd be fine with that. It would be protecting public safety, which I'm all about, mouth-breather.
