we have an open postdoc position at Boston University! We use new multimodal approaches (subsecond 7T fMRI, EEG/fMRI, and computational techniques) to study brain physiology and network dynamics underlying sleep, attention, and mood (incl. depression).

If you have a clinical trial policy story, please send it to jwolfe@bwh.harvard.edu. I am collecting as part of effort to address this with NIH. We can keep info as confidential as you wish.

Over the past year, I have started a podcast: Brain Experts. Here is a brief summary as well as some nuts and bolts of how it got off the ground and a list of podcasts so far.

exciting new paper by van Veluw et al. (): they find that driving slow neural oscillations causes blood volume oscillations and increases brain clearance:

1/2 Mehraveh Salehi ( ) has 2 papers just published demonstrating the flexible organization of the brain within a fixed structural basis. These were remarkably difficult to publish as some reviewers feel structure defines everything.

excited to share our paper w/ 1st author Nina Fultz: Sleep is important for brain health, but why? We discovered CSF waves during sleep, locked to slow neural rhythms. Comp. model suggests neural activity can lead to CSF flow through hemodynamic coupling.

Why consulting in neuroscience makes sense: If real life was like academia, you'd not bring your car to mechanics but miss weeks of work because it's cheaper to fix by yourself. Learning valve timing charts would be seen as part of your training. New post:

Everyone gets stuck on experiments because of 'small' or 'stupid' technical hiccups. This meetup is THE place to ask if someone else might know the solution to your hiccup. We're not all experts in all fields, so drop by and start asking more questions to each other.

my student Uday Agrawal's paper is now online - we created a statistical tool that can automatically detect heart rate and breathing rate using fast fMRI data, and then accurately removes physiological noise. The software (+ tutorials) is also shared!
